Offered for sale is a Sansui QRX-7001 quadraphonic receiver being sold for parts or repair. This receiver has been partially tested and has a decoder-related issue that prevents normal operation in certain listening modes.
The receiver plays well in both 2-Channel and 4-Channel Direct modes, producing clean audio through the amplifier sections. However, the QS, SQ, and Surround decoder modes do not function properly.
To troubleshoot the issue, I have replaced and tested multiple decoder-related boards, including the F-2086, F-2087, and F-2088 boards, but the problem remains unchanged. Based on my testing, the fault appears to lie elsewhere in the decoder circuitry.
